Another solution could be tweaking its frequent flyer points program by offering hefty point discounts to banks to win more support from the program's financial partners and bring more cash in the door.

Aviation sources say Qantas could imminently announce the grounding of all of its 747s and abandon flights to Santiago and San Francisco. It may also drop its flights to London via Perth and ground 90 per cent of its A330s. Qantas declined to comment. Restructuring experts working at major law firms that specialise in complicated work outs, suggested a restructure could benefit Virgin in the long run, allowing it to be reborn as a domestic travel focused carrier. Such a move would allow Virgin to shed its cost-heavy international business and expensive-to-run passenger lounges.

Qantas making new cuts to flying scheduleQantas is making new cuts to its flying schedule beyond those announced last week after Australia and New Zealand imposed tighter travel limits due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nice of them to do this now....2 weeks too late. No doubt raking in millions over the last 2 weeks from “change fee’s” that all other airlines around the world compassionately waived to their citizens. Not good enough if you booked last year then credit will expire if this doesn’t resolve within 6 months.......better to allow refund or longer credit !! Not true, voucher option is not available on the website and no way to get in contact with a representative....
