A defence expert has warned a brutal crackdown is looming in China as the Chinese Communist Party contends with the largest anti-government protests since the deadly Tiananmen Square protests in 1989.

Strategic Analysis Australia’s Michael Shoebridge said Chinese President Xi Jinping would move quickly to arrest ringleaders and stymie media coverage of the demonstrations.

Thousands of people have gathered in cities across the country in a rare showing of anger with the ruling CCP and the ongoing Covid-zero policy. The province’s harsh lockdown measures have been widely blamed by many in China for the fatalities, which they believe hindered firefighter’s efforts to save the victims.

Taiwan’s President Tsai resigns as party chair, China strategy at riskThe DPP had warned that “the front line of democracy” was under assault from Beijing, but its message did not resonate with voters, especially the young who see Kuomintang’s Chiang Wan-an as “the future”. ErykBagshaw Fuck China ErykBagshaw I disagree that Tsai’s China Strategy fails. Her party lost in Taipei & HsinChu - predominantly KMT majority areas. It’s like Joe Manchin loses West Virginia. Tsai resigns bcoz DPP underperforms in local Govt elections. Tsai’s China strategy still works at National level. ErykBagshaw what else left for current ruling dpp party besides china threat theory, old dog need to learn new trick otherwise it won't fit democracy value

ErykBagshaw Obvious Taiwanese people don't want to be used by the warmongers like Ukraine. This is more likely bring stability and peace with China then a leader happy to go along with the warmongers. ErykBagshaw She framed the election as a show to the world Taiwan's determination to be independent. Not the show to the world she expected. The pro One China KMT won handsomely. Taiwan doesn't want to be the next Ukraine. A sacrificial proxy in a US war with China ErykBagshaw Looks like the Taiwanese have rejected the pro-left DPP and the road to war it was leading them down!

Senior Victorian Nationals member says discussions around leaving the Coalition should be 'on the table'A senior Victorian National Party member pushes for his party to reconsider the Coalition agreement after the Labor's Party election victory. Given so many farmers nowadays believe in climate change and are actively taking steps to improve their environment, I think that’s a fair call. I reckon most people associate the Coalition at present with Coal and religious nut jobs…. Nationals are showing more connection between members and the people they represent than Libs. Should split and support policies that are best for their communities rather than having to follow the Libs who have lost their way. I would suggest the focus should be on getting into government and fighting a Labor govt that is impacting his own community. 🙄 foxdoom71

‘CCP! Step down!’ Angered by COVID lockdowns, Chinese protesters call for Xi Jinping to resignAuthorities in at least eight cities struggled to suppress demonstrations on Sunday that represent a rare direct challenge to the ruling Communist Party. The whole country should step down. igeldard Didn’t you support your paramilitary police shooting at anti-lockdown protesters? Shameless. COVID will rip in China soon and they are really just getting started with the pandemic as the population has not been exposed to the virus yet
