Authorities carry out early morning raids in Melbourne and Bendigo in an attempt to crack down on illegal firearms.

abc.net.au/news/victoria-police-target-rebel-bikies-melbourne-bendigo-raids/101718066Police have raided properties as part of an operation targeting illegal weapons and the outlawed Rebels motorcycle club.Seven properties were raided and multiple weapons seizedPolice raided seven properties across Bendigo and south and north-west Melbourne on Wednesday morning.

It's alleged that among the men raided was a 49-year-old North Bendigo man believed to be a chapter president. "Outlaw motorcycle gangs remain a significant national problem, not just in our bigger cities but also in regional towns like Bendigo," he said. Police allege a man from Kurting, near Bendigo, was found in possession of a large amount of gunpowder.
