Victorian Liberal Democrats MP David Limbrick says while Victoria’s tough lockdown worked in getting down COVID-19 numbers, it is not the method which is the least restrictive of human rights to control the pandemic.

Victoria’s coronavirus-induced lockdown was one of the strictest in the world, lasting longer than Wuhan’s. “The lockdown of course worked,” Mr Limbrick told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“But the question really is, is it the method that is the least restrictive of human rights to control the pandemic? “I believe that there’s many actions that the government has taken that are not the least restrictive of human rights and are not proportionate responses.” Mr Limbrick has called for a human rights audit into the directions behind restrictions and what human rights have been impacted as a result of those restrictions.
