The pilot is set to cover workers in select sectors with high rates of casualisation, which could include cleaners, hospitality staff, security guards, supermarket workers and aged care staff. The occupations eligible will be finalised after a consultation process with industries and unions, with $5 million in funding provided by the state government.Treasurer Tim Pallas said 600,000 Victorians were recognised as casual in the workplace.
"We've lived in collective denial about the damage that's being done to our society," Mr Pallas said."It's a massive problem in the industry. You would just push through - maybe you'd get better, maybe you'd get worse," she said.
