Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has resigned less than a day after Premier Daniel Andrews said she was accountable for the botched hotel quarantine program

Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has resigned from cabinet and the Parliament, just a day after Premier Daniel Andrews revealed she was "accountable" for the botched hotel quarantine program.

"I have today written to the Governor of Victoria to resign my commissions as a Minister effective today. I will also be resigning from the Parliament."A day after her testimony to the $3 million Victorian government inquiry set up to investigate the ill-fated hotel quarantine program, evidence emerged throwing Ms Mikakos' sworn statement into doubt.

Ms Mikakos and the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kym Peake consistently maintained the hotel quarantine program was a "multi-agency operation with shared accountability".

Useless Malakakos did a runner. Guilty, guilty and guilty!

This isn't genuine and just a political move, I've supported Dan during this pandemic (which has been largely non political to his credit, unlike Vic Liberal), but political moves are what brought in the guards over ADF in the first place. This doesn't feel right.

And the political clowns in Melbourne make the house of cards fall down AGAIN...

When you accept a position of Government Minister, you undertake Full Responsibility for your Portfolio. 'I didn't know', or 'I wasn't told' is not acceptable. A Minister - or any boss - must ensure they Are informed. IStandWithDan IStandWithDanAndrews

Totally clueless and out of her depth. Why did it take so long to work her out?

Does happened, finger pointing

Uglyduckping I know imagine a minister of the crown resigning for their mistakes. Have you heard of Peter Dutton he has recently been caught lying to the Australian people,I am curious as to your opinions on his next move.

Sacrificial lamb. Public servants should take the shame. Mikakos might be boring but that’s not a crime and if she goes then so should all the rest. I don’t support either party but Dan Andrews is a piece of work!

Whoosh and under the bus you go

A woman of Moral Substance and proper upbringing to act almost immediately on having been betrayed. Her resignation from a Top Job ( via text) is what she thinks of Dan Andrews and the PARTY.

Yep. This is the right way to keep going ahead.

From the day you revealed the GP, I wanted you gone, it just took this long. Goodbye you are very antipatična!

Thank goodness... mooove on cow!

As useless as the 'G' in Lasagna

Yes, she made mistakes. Who won't make mistakes? At least, she took the responsibility and she resigned. Unlike the LNP, they made many mistakes and there are still there, namely Morrison, Hunt, Dutton, and Glady.

Job interviewer: So what was your last role in government? Jenny: It was Chief Scapegoat.

That’s not what he said

It’s botched because the politicians are botched. The country can still survive if the people actually do care

So when is GladysB going to grow some balls and sack BradHazzard . I am sick to death of the media in this country.

I was like meh , if you wanna grab people attention ya gotta give a 12g a blow job these days , where are the dignitaries commitment!

I feel like she is taking the fall so the ALP avoids any further scrutiny. She says the buck stops with her but I’d say it stops with the premier.

D Andrews is gay.

Leader who pushes ‘critical gender theory’ lets a woman be the ‘ fall guy’ . . . hypocrisy

Good.

She’s not the only one that has to go. At least she was courageous to step up, admit fault (although she didn’t so much as say she did) and resign. Others need to man up (pun intended) like this woman and resign too. You’re fired!

Good, absolute numpty, now who else?

Scapegoat

It is curious that a politician has an oversight, (let's face it we are all human) - gone. A politician who lies, self-serves and is corrupt - stays. What strange standards we accept.

The same type of time-serving freeloaders and corrupt petty bureaucrats whose incompetence killed those 700 people sit in judgement on the rest of us every day of our lives...

The Labour machine spits out another one Can’t have the real culprits held accountable Plus, now we have our scapegoat the story dies. Yay!!!!

No choice when your boss throws you under the bus

We needed to spend $3 mil to work it out? Dan plzz you didn’t need an inquest on who’s responsible.

Good to see Vic ALP holding themselves to a higher standard than LNP. Jenny Mikakos worked so hard during the pandemic but mistakes were made. Accountability

😁😁

Australians don’t like cowards and Andrews throwing Mikakos under a bus was cowardly in the extreme.

Then everyone, all the way up the food chain, including WHO, should follow her.

Hundreds dead. Lives upended. No answers.

Who should resign for RubyPrincess in NSW? BradHazzard
