Victoria's Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton says residents in Victoria should be on 'high alert' as the coronavirus cluster grows in New South Wales.

Victoria's Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton says residents in Victoria should be on "high alert" as the coronavirus cluster grows in New South Wales. On Sunday, Premier Daniel Andrews declared all of greater Sydney and the Central Coast a red zone, meaning a mandatory 14 days of hotel quarantine is required for those arriving into Victoria, from those areas, from midnight.

This comes as New South Wales recorded 30 new cases, with 28 linked to the Northern Beaches cluster. "The situation in New South Wales continues to progress," Professor Sutton said. "And even though the majority of cases are from that Northern Beaches area, there are absolutely exposure sites outside of that area," he said.

Even if this thing spreads again, we can’t be doing another lockdown. We will need to just minimise deaths where possible and wait for the vaccine. It’s ludicrous to put lives on pause for the sake of this disease.
