The power giant has pledged to work with its employees at the site, with plans in place to "transition" its workforce into "new and existing industries".AGL expects its annual greenhouse gas emissions to reduce from 40 million tonnes to net zero after the closure. "The targeted earlier closure of Loy Yang A Power Station will avoid up to 200 million tonnes of greenhouse gases being emitted compared to the previous Loy Yang A Power Station closure date," incoming AGL interim CEO Damien Nicks said."AGL is committing to an ambitious but achievable strategy to deliver a responsible and accelerated low carbon future," she said.

What a joke! Stop listening to the fear mongering. We shut them down once we have efficient and economical replacements. Mankind’s power requirements are increasing not decreasing. The planet moves in cycles over millions of years. 200 years of records mean nothing 🤷‍♂️
