There are now 48,420 active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria after 6,280 new cases were detected yesterday.

The number of people in hospital after contracting the virus sits at 365, down from the 379 reported on Friday.The state has reported 6,280 new infections. That tally includes 2,066 positive PCR tests and 4,214 positive rapid antigen test notifications.

It takes the number of officially reported active infections to 48,420, down from 48,852 recorded on Friday.Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

ICU and hospitalisation numbers have halved in the last month but death numbers have remained the same. In another month daily ICU numbers and daily deaths may equalise raising questions on how cause of death is determined, have other causes reduced and why more are not in ICU.
