A woman who was among four victims of reported carjackings within a 26-minute period in Townsville last weekend believes the females were deliberately targeted.

What's next?A Townsville mother who was stabbed and then ripped from her vehicle in an armed carjacking feared women were deliberately targeted in a recent spate of violence.

"Obviously the knife is so sharp that it can cut my seatbelt … I didn't even realise that my seatbelt was cut," she said."We're easier to get out the car, we're vulnerable when we've got children with us, physically we're easier to intimidate," she said. Acting Police Superintendent Dean Cavanagh said that, despite the recent spate of crime in Townsville, crime had dropped overall in the past six months."A lot of them have actually gone to ground so they're not committing offences because of the pressure the police are putting on them and that pressure will continue," Superintendent Cavanagh said.
