The State Control Centre has been activated in Melbourne to deal with the spread of the coronavirus as a means for the government to coordinate the different agencies dealing with the outbreak in order to centralise the information and response.

The outbreak was at a level two emergency and tier two seriousness however an increase of local transmissions could cause a state of emergency to be called which would grant the premier and chief health officer additional powers to help curb the spread of the virus.

A surge in demand for testing facilities in Melbourne saw long lines outside clinics with more than 1,000 people tested on Tuesday. As the number of confirmed cases rises in Victoria, the state government increased the number of testing clinics. Vic Premier Daniel Andrews said the state was still in a “containment phase” but it was “not a matter of if but when we move from that phase to a pandemic".

A COVID-19 outbreak could 'overwhelm us very quickly' | Sky News AustraliaThe Herald Sun’s James Campbell says the outbreak of COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus, is “going to overwhelm us very quickly if what is happening overseas is replicated here”.\n\nThe number of confirmed cases of the virus has passed 100,000 world-wide with more than 3,500 dead.\n\nNorthern Italy is in lockdown, with the European nation recorded the highest amount of cases outside China, while many major sporting events have been cancelled due to the virus.\n\nMr Campbell told Sky News it was unbelievable the Grand Prix was going to be held in Melbourne next week given the highly contagious nature of the disease.\n\n“The longer we allow public events to take place, on large scale, the greater the chance that there is going to be a large outbreak,” he said. \n\n“People need to get their head around the fact nobody has an immunity to this disease”.\n\nHe said “at this point we need to be putting things in place that are going to prevent out health system getting overwhelmed”.\n\n“A stimulus package is essentially a conventional weapon when demand drops, but you cannot stimulate an economy which is essentially in quarantine”. \n\nImage: Getty\n Please correct it's 'COVID-19 MADE IN CHINA' virus. True, retarded country can't even put out a fire, no power or resources to replicate any thing China did. It’s the WuFlu.
