Thieves steal a famous Vincent van Gogh painting from a museum east of Amsterdam in a smash-and-grab in the middle of the night.

"I'm shocked and unbelievably annoyed that this has happened," Singer Laren museum director Jan Rudolph de Lorm said.

"It is very bad for the Groninger Museum, it is very bad for the Singer, but it is terrible for us all because art exists to be seen and shared by us, the community, to enjoy to draw inspiration from and to draw comfort from, especially in these difficult times."The 25-by-57-centimetre oil on paper painting shows a person standing in a garden surrounded by trees with a church tower in the background.

More than 120 years after Vincent Van Gogh's death, we're still discovering new things about his paintings and who they depict.

What does someone do with a stolen painting? You couldn't sell it at auction? Does a fanboy just keep it? But presumably they can't display it then?

good timing

I would have thought during these times of lockdown, a playstation and a handful of games would have been more entertaining.....

It’s pronounced as “van go” not “van gof” !!
