Republican senator Martha McSally, the first female combat pilot in the United States Air Force, tells a Senate hearing on sexual assault in the military she did not report being raped because she didn't trust the system.

United States senator Martha McSally, the first female combat pilot in the country's Air Force, has told a Senate hearing on preventing sexual assault in the military that she was raped by a superior officer. She said sexual assault and harassment were prevalent during her military careerThe Arizona Republican, who rose to the rank of colonel during her 26-year military career, said she did not report the incident because she blamed herself and did not trust the system.

"I stayed silent for many years, but later in my career as the military grappled with scandals and their wholly inadequate responses, I felt the need to let some people know: I too was a survivor," she said. "I'm deeply affected by that testimony," said Democratic senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who has pushed for changes to the military's approach to sexual assault.

Australian Defence Force invests $5 million in 'killer robots' researchThe largest ever investment in AI ethics will look at how to develop ethical killer robots, and investigate how the designers of this weaponry would determine when and whom to kill. It's hard enough to discern the difference between combatants, non-combatants, authorised militia. Compound that with a duty to protect authorised others and allies. $5m only scratches the surface. $500m and many very smart people may buy an AI sentry to man a gate. goodluck Can they kill carbon emissions? So-a couple of overseas “fact finding missions” and that’ll use up your 5 mil.

Labor will force the SCG Trust to repay $644 million loan for stadium upgradeThe Parliamentary Budget Office has told the NSW ALP the SCG Trust can repay the loan over 35 years. Labor a selling a massive furphy here. Who is going to take on the liability of the loan? If it’s the trustees they won’t agree to it, if it’s the trust itself that is the govt loaning itself the money. Ie. if the Trust defaults the govt pays anyway. Funny how they want them to take some responsibility in their desires yet quite happy to take responsibility over from those who take drugs, have children, don't want to work etc. don't get me wrong I hate sports and wonder why my taxes go to help other people work out! (Etc) Can a trust be forced? No personal liability here. Rather they promised never to fund stadiums.

Border Force crackdown on illegal workers leaves farmers without pickersVictorian farmers are struggling to find workers to pick their fruit after an ABF crackdown on illegal foreign workers over the past month. If only we had a source of desperate subsistance farmers? 🤔 That industry should be working as a group to pool funds to fund the research and development of agricultural robotics in conjunction with major universities. If they can manage that then perhaps they can also get the federal goverment to match them dollar for dollar. we have 400k on the dole plus 52k on TPV n 70k illegals arriving by planes working in cafes & in brothels We also have 60k backpackers With 200k/yr annual intake n we still dont have farm labor Crazy
