The United States is pressuring Australia to ramp up its presence in the South China Sea, as tensions continue to simmer with Beijing.

navy and Australia publicly declared there is “no legal basis” to China’s claims over the region.

“There is no legal basis for China to draw straight baselines connecting the outermost points of maritime features or ‘island groups’ in the South China Sea, including around the ‘Four Sha’ or ‘continental’ or ‘outlying’ archipelagos. It declared sanctions on beef and wine exports were warranted and warned broken diplomacy between the two countries was unsalvageable.

“If Australia further provokes China, not only on political relations, but also economic relations, the damage to Australia should be expected.”The diplomatic relationship between Australia and China soured when Canberra led calls for an international investigation into the initial outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Wuhan.

No, seriously the USA has raised questions about the value of capitalism and democracy. I'm for just sitting back and watching how this plays out.

Don't get sucked in. They want to start a war so they can sell billions of dollars of military hardware to Australia.

Yes, my Master...woof woof 🐕

Australia should get rid of the the U.S. base in Darwin

Australia is NOT involved in Trump's idiocy about China. The people did not give federal politicians approval to meet with US liars. Scott Morrison will pay for this at the next election.

ScottMorrisonMP please don’t waste o ur tax funds on someone else’s muscle flexing battle, not now not never. Let us be; stop Australia depending on someone else. auspol

Is antagonising China at the behest of the US in Australia's best interests? China could cripple us economically and a war with them would end badly for us. Trump clearly lacks any leadership skills. Following him could be a monumental disaster for Australia.

In what ? Our rubber paddle boards.

We would be crazy to follow anything America has planned with the Republicans/Trump in power. CRAZY.

We only have 8 Frigates and 3 Destroyers, the rest is mostly Subs. While Americans have a fleet of over 600+ what they want us to do with a small navy?

Let them sort their own shit out

Just so long as the septics are going to do the same

I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

No thanks ...........

Australia-US looking to ramp up joint military exercises in South China SeaAustralia and the United States are set to conduct more joint military exercises in the South China Sea following Canberra's decision to brand China's territorial claims unlawful at the United Nations. Don't do it Australia you are not a power house when it comes military, USA pretending yous are mates because they're gunning for war. Looks like Jared’s met his Australian counterpart. Two of the world’s emptiest puppets meet up for a MENSA convention. Very foolish game that we have no right to play. US is in the wrong on this unilateral escalation and we would do best to stay away and advise them to pull their head in.
