Former foreign minister Alexander Downer says US President Donald Trump is 'determined' to balance out trade inequalities between the United States and China. KennyOnSunday

Former foreign minister Alexander Downer says President Donald Trump is "determined" to balance out trade inequalities between the United States and China. "On the other hand there are significant problems where the United States has much less access to the Chinese market than the Chinese have to the American market," Mr Downer told Sky news host Chris Kenny.

Mr Downer said "they have much less less access for their investors in China, than Chinese investors have in the United States". "President Trump is determined to balance that up". Mr Downer said President Trump will be seeking to achieve a "substantial agreement with the Chinese," with the aim of giving "greater access to the Chinese market for both American exports and American investments".
