Australian tennis star Dylan Alcott led criticism of the wheelchair tournament's axing, describing it as 'disgusting discrimination'.

The US Open will be the first grand slam to be held during the COVID-19 pandemic, with organizers to enforce stringent health protocols.

The reversal has been welcomed by Australian player Dylan Alcott, who last week criticized the decision to axe the tournament as part of social distancing measures. "It is blatant discrimination for able-bodied people to decide on my behalf what I do with my life and career just because I am disabled."
