The US Supreme Court has refused to let immigrants who have been allowed to stay in the United States on humanitarian grounds apply to become permanent residents if they entered the country illegally, siding with President Joe Biden's administration.

Besides El Salvador, 11 other countries currently have such designations: Haiti, Honduras, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.

Myanmar was the latest addition to the list, placed there by Mr Biden's administration after the 1 February military coup there. The Supreme Court ruled in the case on a day when US Vice President Kamala Harris visits Guatemala as part of the Biden administration's efforts to lower migration to the United States from that country as well as El Salvador and Honduras.

The US is donating 750,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to TaiwanA bipartisan delegation of three United States senators have landed in Taiwan, announcing that Washington would donate 750,000 coronavirus vaccine doses to its ally. 750k from 50 M surplus.. That's ridiculous 😑 The media should mention that Senator Tammy Duckworth lost her legs to a grenade during the 2004 US-Iraq war. It was an illegal war. Folks should be reminded of the danger of escalating tensions between nations which can lead to another horrendous war.
