Children as young as five will soon be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine after an expert panel recommended the US Food and Drug Administration support Pfizer's appeal to administer the jab to the younger population.

They argued the benefits of opening the vaccine up to that age group outweighed the risks, with the vaccine makers seeking approval for a smaller dose of 10 micrograms versus the 30 micrograms administered to the 12 and over population.

Pfizer and BioNTech appealed to US authorities for authorisation of their vaccine in five to 11-year-olds earlier this month, with Pfizer representatives saying “with new cases in children in the US continuing to be at a high level, this submission is an important step in our ongoing effort against #COVID-19.”

Advisors looked at the rare side effect of risk of myocarditis - inflammation of the heart muscle - which has been linked to mRNA vaccines Pfizer and Moderna. The vaccine is also currently being trialled on children aged between two and five-years-old and between six-months and five-year-old, with results expected in the fourth quarter.

Murderers, jail every one of their board

Not touching my boy, getting ready for home schooling.

I get the vax that target kids like mumps & measles, polio, hooping cough etc...but this one, when their own bodies have immune to it...all experts are saying this is crazy Only the vulnerable should be taking the vax & all others, we know after 2 years, early treatment works.

Good, the more of the population protected the better and for all the troglodytes commenting, 1. They give a 1/3 dose, 2. There's over 18yrs of research and testing behind the vaccines and 3. Grow TF up, do you want the world to remain closed because of low vaccination rates 🖕
