COVID NSW: Parliament waits for test results as NSW records 11 new cases | marywardy jennynoise LucyCormack

NSW has recorded 11 new COVID-19 cases, as health authorities race to link a Double Bay hairdresser to known clusters and the infection of Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall prompts testing and confusion at Parliament.

Nationals MP Adam Marshall tested positive to COVID-19 after dining at Christo’s Pizzeria at Paddington on Monday night. The 11 cases include five recorded to 8pm last night, for a total of 18 during that reporting period, and six which came in after the cut-off.NSW Health said “urgent investigations” were under way in relation to an infection in a hairdresser from western Sydney, who worked in the city’s east. Three women who are close contacts of the hairdresser have tested positive.

One of Thursday’s cases was Mr Marshall, whose positive COVID-19 test sent his colleagues into a spiral at State Parliament on Thursday morning.Health Minister Brad Hazzard was directed to test and isolate as a close contact of a case, cancelling morning media appearances while he waited for his result.

Confirming the result just after 8am, Mr Marshall said he had been isolating since Tuesday night when he was informed he was a close contact of a positive case after attending Christo’s Pizzeria at Paddington on Monday.

SA closes border to NSW amid concerns over COVID outbreak | Sky News AustraliaSouth Australian Premier Steven Marshall has announced the state will close its border to New South Wales under level six restrictions effective immediately. \n\nIt comes after Western Australia restored its hard border due to the growing COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.\n\n“I think by now most people would have realised that the situation in New South Wales is deteriorating, there are additional exposure sites and the number of new infections has increased,” Mr Marshall said.\n\nHe said in addition to the restrictions, there will be a one-hundred kilometre buffer along the SA-NSW border to provide relief to nearby communities. \n What an absolute joke that someone from the border “bubble” in NSW can come and go as they please but a SA resident that has been in the bubble or intends to go to the bubble has to isolate for 14 days on return to SA. . Incompetent Gladys. If Gladys had've contained this outbreak to Sydney's Eastern Suburbs the rest of us would be ok. But she criticises other states so much she can't make good decisions. Too much of a politician and nit enough of a leader. As I see , this liberal territory leader of SA is not liberal , but a labour party person in disguise , any WA movement , he copyed like Qld

NSW government’s guidelines for air crew transportation to blame for COVID outbreak | Sky News AustraliaA failure by the New South Wales government to implement provisions requiring drivers of air crew to be vaccinated and to wear face masks is to blame for the state’s unfolding coronavirus crisis, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. \n\nA police investigation into the spread of the Delta variant of the virus is underway and health authorities believe the original source, a Bondi limousine driver, may have contracted the virus in the course of transporting international flight crew.\n\nMr Clennell said the public health orders only require limousine drivers to undergo regular testing for COVID-19. \n\n“There appears to have been a major failure here by the NSW Government,” he said.\n\n“My information is the public health orders governing this driver meant that there was no requirement for vaccination of that driver and that there was no requirement for that driver to even wear a mask.\n\n“So we’ve got severe restrictions in Sydney, an inability for people to travel on school holidays, border closures throughout the country because the NSW government, it seems, did not have a public health order in place requiring this driver to wear a mask or be vaccinated. \n\n“Will the driver be fined? I dare say not given those requirements were not even given in the public health order.”\n aclennell Wait! Does getting vaccinated mean you can't catch covid? I just seen Gladys say you can. aclennell Next time the blame will fall on a ferret named Geraldo who sniffed a carry on bag and sneezed on an unsuspecting passer- by..... aclennell So once again the general public pay for the failings of the state and ultimately the government. Jokers.
