Serena Williams has caused a stir ahead of the US Open with organisers confirming that the six-time champion has had the grand slam's new court surface installed at her home.
"I can confirm the surface provided by Laykold for the 2020 US Open and Western & Southern Open was shipped to Serena's house," US Open tournament director Stacey Allaster said this week."She will be playing and she's excited to come back." The tournament will take place in New York on August 31, but with the tennis world grinding to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are concerns that Williams' private court allowing her to practice on the new Laykold surface, would be an unfair advantage.Australian tennis legend Todd Woodbridge scoffed at claims of Williams having an unfair advantage.
