Critical workers who are allowed out of isolation are required to complete daily rapid antigen tests but must pay for them on their own, prompting an outcry from unions.

Premier Dominic Perrottet announced critical workers who test positive to COVID-19 would be allowed to leave isolation to ensure the state has continued access to essential goods and services.

“The government cannot put rules in place that shift the burden of keeping workplaces safe onto workers. “We’ve always said that we will pivot and we’ll adapt to the conditions that are before us and that’s exactly what we’re doing today.” “NSW politicians can access free rapid tests for themselves and their staffers. The workers they deem critical aren’t given that same access, yet it’s clear who plays more of a role in keeping our state running.”
