A new demerit point system could soon be imposed on union officials in a bid to prevent wrongdoing. WeekendEdition

A new demerit point system could soon be imposed on union officials in a bid to prevent wrongdoing. The federal government will adopt the idea as it attempts to shore up support for tough new laws.

Under the plan, unions and officials would lose points for breaching workplace regulations. Leaders could face bans and their unions could even be de-registered if too many breaches are recorded. The coalition expects its so-called 'union-busting bill' to go to a Senate vote as early as Wednesday. Image: News Corp Australia

Following the same biased logic, Employer Unions such as the Minerals Council of Australia etc. and their members should gain demerit points when guilty of wage theft and OH&S breaches🙄Over 10 years they would easily accumulate enough points to justify dissolving them 😁

Unions should just be banned.

Good to hunt down dodgy unions but also need to jail companies wooloworths who steal from own workers too.

And on Politicians?

So the LNP are at it again bashing the unions . The unions are the ones who saving lives in building sites .Stopping wage theft by big businesses. The Government has done absolutely nothing about deaths on building sites except fine unions for doing the duty to check safety of W

Good, how about a bank super tax for the banks then!

Forget about games with demerit points altogether Penalize responsible parties personally. Start a correction slush fund. Concerned honesty!

Yep because it’s only the unions that are doing wrong. We won’t worry about the multinationals that have been caught underpaying staff. We won’t worry about bank executives who have orchestrated bank rip offs. No we’ll only go after the nasty unions.

But almost nothing for companies who steal from their hard working employees, or who don’t pay any tax, or who steal superannuation, or who build substandard buildings which start breaking apart, or......

This is too pro blood sucking capitalists

Imagine a similar system for federal MPs. There literally would not me enough LNP members to form government.

😂😂😂 And will the LNP do the same to their mates who rip off ordinary Australians through pay theif, bank bonus and corporate greed?

Good old fashioned union busting from a fascist government

Need a thorough open appeal system, otherwise the Government is given too much power. As this is directed towards a union leader, this demerit system can be abused as a blackmailing system. It seems a rushed legislation. ScottMorrisonMP

Pity our politicians aren't hit with a demerit point system!!!!

Meanwhile the disgustingly hypocritical Coalition government allow greedy criminal business owners CEO’s and executives to ROB MILLIONS FROM HARD WORKING AUSTRALIANS IN WAGE THEFT...I imagine they will be welcomed with open arms to the LNP and Coalition political area a

While the Coalition government allows corrupt criminal banks to rob and rort Australians according to the ACCC who say they need further investigation caused by the governments failure to impliment the royal commission findings or refer criminal bankers for prosecution

Why can't we have this for our Government?

A new punishment, jail this thugs and criminals CFMEU_CG CFMEUJohnSetka

And what about a point system to companies to prevent work place accidents and deaths!!!!?

Are they going to implement a similar arrangement for corporate officials/directors? Such a system may prevent underpayment of wages and other entitlements.
