Australia's unemployment rate jumped to 7.1 per cent in May from 6.4 per cent in April, with the Bureau of Statistics estimating a further 227,700 jobs were lost last month.

Given that the economy is not recovering, and is actually getting worse, maybe now is not the best time to think about ending JobKeeper and JobSeeker. Providing such support to consumers so that they can be customers is the only thing that will get us out of this recession.
