Saying there is a 'growing gap' between China's actions and its rhetoric, Australia's World Trade Organization representative argues China is acting contrary to WTO rules.

Mr Mina also explicitly accused China of imposing the restrictions on Australian goods in retaliation for political disputes, saying there was a "growing body of evidence" that its actions were "motivated by political considerations.

"By re-framing this as being about China's behaviour as a rule-abiding member of the global economy, it allows Australia to marshal an international coalition against its coercive trade practices."While the Chinese government hasn't substantially escalated its campaign of trade punishment this year, the Australia-China relationship remains mired in hostility.

From what perspective does Australia criticize China's trade strategy? Is Australia's trade strategy a good one? I don't think so. So from whose point of view did the Australian Broadcasting Corporation publish this report?

Undermining bilateral...not multilateral.

This is so ridiculous. Australia started insulting a friendly big customer who was paying good money for Aussie staff, when this customer get upset, Australia condemns him destroying the business and politic relationships. Are you out of your mind Australia?

sigh Morrison’s government is a joke. stop whinings and start real diplomacy please

Economic punishment? US calls it sanctions and they use all the time.

And I condem Australia for its constant provocation of China at the bidding of USA war mongering

Look at the stats, appears Australia is the only country get into trouble of trade issues with China. Eu, Africa, south east asia, Jp/Kr all having no dramas. Even US, who criticise China most, has more and more trade both export/import with China. So who is the real loser here?

So China wants to join the CPTPP? Tell em they're dreaming!

Scott Morrison's mental state is quite unbalance. On one hand, he likes to be the mouth piece and frontline pawn for the American doing all its bidding against China. On the other hand, he likes to trade with China, a country he is obviously despised, for some dosh.
