A British man has finally solved a 10-year mystery over why his face persistently erupted in large red, flaky splotches, and the answer lay in his office toilet. 9News

Four years ago, a dermatologist diagnosed him with rosacea, a condition which causes flushing of the face and can also produce small, pus-filled bumps. But in line with his doctor's wishes, Mr Hayward tried prescribed medical creams and adjusted his lifestyle and diet."Though the low level redness was a bit diminished the mega flare ups were just as severe and happened just as often."It was back to the doctor, where this time he was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis.

Two chemicals - one called 2-brom-2-nitropropane -1,3-diol and the other methylisothiazolinone - came back positive. Still, Mr Hayward conducted an extensive clear out of all his household and care products and then waited to see what happened. His skin was "doing great" but then Mr Hayward returned to the office as he and his newsroom colleagues got back into a post-covid working routine."And by that night I was back to square one. Then, an exasperated Mr Hayward had a eureka moment.
