United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned there is a"tidal wave of Omicron coming" as he outlined a new jab target - to offer every adult a booster vaccine by the end of December.
Mr Johnson's announcement comes after Chief Medical Officers raised the COVID-19 alert level in England to four - the second highest level - which indicates the transmission level is"high or rising exponentially". "Earlier today, the UK's four Chief Medical Officers raised the COVID Alert level to 4, its second highest level, because of the evidence that Omicron is doubling here in the UK every two to three days.The Prime Minister implored residents to get booster vaccines, which can bring the level of protection from the first and second vaccine back up.
"No-one should be in any doubt: there is a tidal wave of Omicron coming, and I'm afraid it is now clear that two doses of vaccine are simply not enough to give the level of protection we all need," he said.
If there is a 'tidal wave of Omicron' coming what does that tell you: * vaccines are losing their effect? * the vaccinated are spreading it more?
