Under the in-principle agreement signed on Tuesday, the US-based rideshare company would support the introduction of a minimum earnings “safety net”.
Uber Australia managing director Dom Taylor said the move would ensure protections for over 100,000 drivers and delivery partners using the platform. “Whilst Uber and TWU may not seem like obvious allies, we’ve always agreed that driver and delivery partners must come first, and today we have struck this important deal to improve workers’ protections,” Mr Taylor said.
“It is critical that earners continue to be part of the regulatory conversation and that their collective voice is heard.“We are pleased to be working collaboratively with the TWU, Federal Government, and those in the industry, to create a framework which recognises the unique nature of independent work and lays the foundation for the future of the gig economy.”

Unions wrecking this country again.
When are the transport workers union going in to bat for coles delivery drivers. Oh, they won't because it doesn't suit their politics. Delivery drivers are called 'customer service', and as such fall under the retail workers union. Aussie unions are just labours fund-raisers.
