Melbourne shoppers have been caught up in a terrifying and violent incident at a shopping centre in the city’s west when a fight broke out between teenagers allegedly armed with an axe and machete. About 5pm on Monday, two teens were captured on video attacking each other at a food court inside Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton. In a video of the incident, one of the boys appears to have an axe, while the other appears to be armed with a machete.

The pair have both been charged over the violent incident and will face a children’s court on Tuesday afternoon. The teenager in hospital is set to be interviewed by police following his release. The incident comes just days after a stabbing attack at Bondi Junction Westfield in Sydney in which six people were killed and a dozen others injured. The killer, 40-year-old Queensland man Joel Cauchi, was shot dead by police at the scene.
