Two High Court judges allegedly knew of complaints of sexual harassment made against their colleague Dyson Heydon, according to an independent investigation conducted by the court | Kate_McClymont JacquelineMaley

Two judges of the High Court allegedly knew of complaints of sexual harassment made against their colleague Dyson Heydon, according to an independent investigation conducted by the High Court that has sparked a national conversation about misconduct in the legal industry., Justice Michael McHugh, who served on the court from 1989 until 2005, and the then chief justice Murray Gleeson, who headed the court for a decade until 2008, were told of their colleague's alleged behaviour.

It is not known what steps were taken by then Chief Justice Murray Gleeson about Justice Heydon's behaviour. Mr McHugh declined to participate in the investigation. When contacted by the, Mr Gleeson, now retired from the bench, said: "I am unwilling to comment". Mr McHugh, also retired from the bench, did not respond to emails and phone messages.behaviour or breaches of the law is categorically denied".

High Court Chief Justice Susan Kiefel said the findings of the independent report were of "extreme concern" to her and she and her fellow judges were "ashamed that this could have happened at the High Court of Australia".investigation has uncovered multiple further allegations against Mr Heydon from women, both here and in the United Kingdom.

Ms Blumer reported Mr Heydon started "feeling up the side of my leg" at a 2013 law ball and later tried to forcibly kiss her. On retirement from the bench, Mr Heydon returned to the NSW bar, and currently has chambers at Eight Selborne, a ritzy practice in Phillip Street, Sydney.
