ANALYSIS: Two degrees, a diploma, and making less than $35k: The big hole in a promising plan

Within a decade, all children in NSW and Victoria would have access to five days a week of free preschool in the year before kindergarten. Both states announced that they would create government-run, low-fee centres delivering childcare, kindergarten and pre-prep in areas with the greatest unmet demand for childcare places — or what are known as "childcare deserts".So far, so great.

"I work in a kinder prep program and have for five years," she wrote. "I have a Diploma in Early Childhood, two other degrees and have returned to uni to complete a Bachelor in Education. Erin tried to get a home loan to fix her roof, but the bank rejected her because she earned less than $38,000.

Typical approach from the ABC. ‘2 degrees a diploma ….’ Here to tell ya there’s plenty of people with bits of paper that can’t tie a knot. Does not strengthen the argument whatsoever. The ABC have an irritating way of making a point. Out of touch with the real world.

Because of your degrees and diploma are not related to childcare industry, level 1.1 is your correct rate.

Does anybody actually spend time with their kids anymore, or has that also been outsourced so that 'parents' can afford that new 4x4?

. The ABS says the MEDIAN INCOME is $48,000 Think about that... .

Then why stay there?

So new mothers get a degree and diploma before they have children so they are qualified to take care of them? LOL Do they have degrees and diplomas for tying your shoe laces and wiping your arse? Education is the scam here!

If you are a mother who doesn’t want to send your 4 yr old child to the increasingly left-wing school system 5 days a week, you are “cold hearted” Thank you for dropping the mask on feminism LaTrioli DefundTheABC

Trioli says anyone who disagrees with government funded childcare has a cold heart. This is how the mind of the ABC communist works. Me good, you bad. NB Neither have I sympathy for one complaining about not paid for 2 degrees they are not using while working in child minding.

Something doesn’t add up. Works 5 days a week for less than 35k. Isn’t that illegal. Minimum wage is over 40k. This smells fishy!

What we have here is a failure to monetise two degrees! You chose your degrees. You chose the work you went into. No one to blame but yourself.

I have a degree, two certificates in child care and completed most of a four year teaching degree...I worked in child care & was paid $15 an hour for the most time... I loved it & wouldn't have changed anything...yes workers need to be paid more by multinational & gov !

Anyone else think the guardian might disagree 'At the same time, new analysis this week revealed that the CEOs at the top ASX-listed companies earned 132 times the average Australian salary.'

Live: NSW now: Further industrial rail action expected to cause delays across suburban linesIt will be yet another day of disruption across Sydney's rail network, with reduced services across all suburban lines. I'd be happy if all of our government went on strike for safety and money. We need our government to give the unions anything they want. They deserve it after all the hard work and turmoil from the pandemic. In fact politicians themselves deserve fat pay rises
