One of the most requested features has launched in Australia as a part of a pre-launch test. 9News

Now, the social media giant is launching just that, first in Australia, Canada and New Zealand today for "Twitter Blue" subscribers.

Twitter Blue is a $6.99 subscription service to Twitter which gives access to a limited number of new features, now including the option to edit tweets.Twitter's edit button appears when the three dots to the right of a user's name are clicked. You can edit tweets up to five times in a 30 minute period, after which the tweet is locked.

As is the case on other platforms like Facebook, the original message and any edits you make are available for everyone to see, in order of the changes you made. The option will be popular among people who make regular mistakes in typing, but the $6.99 fee is a steep price to pay for such a feature. Twitter expects to roll out the service globally soon, but it has launched first in Australia as a part of a larger scale pre-launch test.

NeilMcMahon ., Twitter Blue’s “pay to edit function” has been available in Australia for over a year. I tried it. It’s time-based. They’ve now extended the edit window from 1 min to 30. Better—but still not worth $7/mth and they know it pushing other “exclusives” to incentivise it.
