Jack Dorsey says banning President Donald Trump from its social media platform after last week's violence in Washington sets a dangerous precedent but also that the ban was the 'right decision'.

The chief executive of Twitter says banning President Donald Trump from its social media platform after last week's violence in Washington sets a dangerous precedent but also says it was the "right decision".Twitter is among several social media platforms to ban Mr Trump since last week's violence

The ban drew criticism from some Republicans, who said it quelled the President's right to free speech. "Having to take these actions fragments the public conversation," Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said on Twitter.

I agree wholeheartedly, social platforms should abide with government rules & regulations.

If you're okay with Twitter doing this, and you're okay with China doing whatever they are doing. Welcome to Cyberpunk China 2021. Yay!

Why? Other people have been banned. Many have been banned temporarily, and some permanently, before this. Diddums to TrumpCo.

Say what you like about the guy, that's a fabulous beard. I'm very envious.

Wrong decision unsupported

Of course it’s a dangerous precedent. It means that powerful people above the law are unable to cause another insurrection ever again whilst caught in the act. /s

Was a bad call

Dangerous precedent only if we let it mean anyone and everyone is subjected to the same censorship. A president has a wider audience, influence and greater responsibility than the majority of world wide citizens who access the same platforms to express their views.

If by not banning him 5 years earlier is the dangerous precedent then I absolutely agree. Regular users get banned in the thousands everyday for far less

Lock him up

Who cares about Trump, just give us an edit button...

You did good trust us, You did good job on the right time and spot on.

They didn't have much choice. If they didn't ban Trump, he would currently be organising the next insurrection.

Trump was kicked off for all the right reasons and social media platforms have to comply to government regulations and media codes of conduct so that their platforms are not used for anti social agendas. If it had been anyone other than Trump we would have heard nothing about it.

In the past, people doing this sort of thing ended up with their head on a pike.

. Ya think... .

Is that a picture of the little guy from Game of Thrones?

Jack off

Correct decision ? Who made you and your mates the moral arbiters of who does and who doesn't enjoy the rights of 'Free Speech ' ? Put forward your evidence of Incitement and we will judge

Freedom of Speech does not mean freedom to incite hatred & lawlessness. In retrospect would we have allowed Hitler freedom of speech!! Congratulations to Twitter for finally shutting the tweeting twit down.

Yeah cause it just exposes the liberal establishments control on everything. Like a villain giving away their plans

All social media needs, is something simple showing something has been fact checked or refuted when challenged. Run by accountable volunteer moderators, peer reviewed, like wiki has for years.

Yes jack well done It had to be done ✅ To leave him on this platform would have been wrong

👇LMAO, like it's true believers are true hypocrites & soo fake with their bitter little hatreds sad auspol

No it wasn’t. It killed their platform and killed all trust in social media and MSM

He lets untold amounts of lies & mistruths be peddled on Twitter & given Trump a platform for 4 years even when Trump threatened to regulate Twitter. But as Trump can’t damage or regulate them now they act. It’s almost cowardice. I do not support Trump but this is hypocrisy

A good start would be for twitter to stop pushing people into a rut that reinforces preconceived ideas. Instead provide a more diverse feed from people one follows and others. It's not a new idea, it used to work that way.

The gate keepers of the public square (an international public utility) pretends that twitter is like doughnut king. But really he should stop banning stuff, especially when it's clear the ban has to do with ther involvement with the Democrat side of the duopoly.

It does set a dangerous precedent. The man has lost his voice all at the whim of a couple companies. That in itself is scary. Irrespective of the person and the reason why.

Twitter jack

'How can I appease all sides🤔'

kuku27 This was necessary

He banned him when he had served his purpose...his 88 million followers were great for Twitter - but now he is out of power the CEO bans him....Its about time Twitter was treated as a publishing company - liable for what they produce...

This headline is straight from The Onion.

No way! There is a sewer out there: far deeper & wider & filthier than anything the Donald has dished up!

Zionist organisation the Anti Defamation League pressured his shareholders like Paul Singer into making him do it just like the Zionist Federation of Australia lobbied the Keating government for 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act

Foisting people like Trump into higher office is the dangerous precedent.

He was good In Bruges.
