The official Twitter accounts of Apple, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and others appeared to have been hijacked on Wednesday by scammers trying to dupe people into sending bitcoin in the hope of doubling their money.

Twitter said in an email on Wednesday it was looking into the matter and would issue a statement shortly.
