Premier Dominic Perrottet has outlined the steps the state will take to make sure children can return to school "safely" on the first day of term."We are currently distributing to over 3000 schools across NSW, and as well, all our early childhood education and childhood centres will be providing rapid antigen tests for teachers in those early childhood and childcare settings, and in both primary and secondary school, two rapid antigen tests per student per week," he said.
Ms Mitchell said schools would no longer close when there was a positive COVID-19 case in the community, and contact tracing would not be carried out. Teachers who are close contacts will also not be required to come to work even if they are asymptomatic and have tested negative. Masks will also be mandatory for teachers and secondary school students, while they are "highly recommended" for students in Year Three and above.Visits to schools will be limited, as will mingling between groups of students and COVID-19 safety plans will be in place for excursions, music and other activities.
Nobody here has any suggestions......
Simply say that we have no control over this any more.
According to the govt, you can only catch Covid if a close contact of over 4 hours. Under that notion, kids can go to school with Covid because lessons don’t go for anything close to 4 hours. Does this also mean we don’t need to wipe down surfaces as that doesn’t seem to matter.
Dom says fcuk your kids if they die they die.
So what if the teachers get it? I hope the schools were given enough time to plan this so they can have Plan B. We dont want to have shortage of teachers then.😬
Makes sense. Closing the school down for each case is not feasible anymore due to the spread of the omnicron variant. The next phase is to be more targeted in the apprach
Vote them out
NjbBari3 when our kids become the collateral damage of this pathetic reckless government
I cannot get my head around this. 😫
What a joke. This is not sound
Wondering if casual teachers will be able to access RAT’s via school or DET or have to supply them theirselves? This may have an significant effect in getting casuals.
How about someone tell the teachers and parents about omicron variant B? How it is even more infectious and deadly?
Just one positive case? Lmao fools, there will be heaps. Then we will see what happens. Good luck NSW with Parrot and VIC with Dumb Dan
This is insane So parents who don’t want their child at home for whatever reason can just blatantly lie about either having done the test or the result & there will be parents selling these tests or just using them on themselves So children at the mercy re honesty of parents
Dom_Perrottet letting it rip!
Are they kidding 😡
How about testing when you are sick. Waste of tax payers money. Our kids are gonna be paying for this for the rest of their life
Very much like our secondary college that never closed when someone got covid but they didn’t tell you either unless you were a close contact and even then, you found out through someone else that there was cases in classroom, very freaking shifty
how this became ‘ in a bid to get students back to school’? And when teachers got sick and stop working, are you going to ask kid drive forklift again?
Fantastic news. Time to live with covid, and move forward
🤦
