The Australian Border Force and WA Police are investigating how a 12-year-old boy was found in a container being moved about what is meant to be a secure area at Fremantle Port.
Workers who detected the boy immediately stopped work and escorted him to security personnel, a spokeswoman for Patrick Terminals said. She said the appropriate authorities were notified, and the company was fully cooperating with their investigation. The area where the boy was found is a maritime security zone, where a maritime security identification card is required for entry. It is similar to security requirements at airports where access is restricted to the “airside”.
