A former Sydney Airport employee who stole $450,000 worth of electronics from airport cargo has been jailed for at least two years over the lucrative crime. The 38-year-old man from Green Valley, in Sydney’s west, who was a freight handler at the airport, was identified as a potential suspect when the theft was first reported in February 2022. He was found with $189,000 cash in the boot of his car several months later, the Australian Federal Police revealed on Wednesday.

His partner, a 45-year-old woman, was charged with two counts of dealing with money or other property reasonable to be suspected of being proceeds of crime under $100,000. The pair pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2023. The woman was sentenced in the Downing Centre District Court to an intensive corrections order of 70 hours community service.
