President Donald Trump has reiterated his support for tighter abortion restrictions, pledging at the annual March for Life rally in Washington. 9News

The event was founded in 1974 by anti-abortion activist Nellie Gray, and typically attracts about 100,000 participants hailing from across the country.As the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump is conducted inside the Senate, activists attending the March for Life anti-abortion rally visit the Capitol in Washington.Mr Trump is the first president to attend the march, March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said.

The Department of Health and Human Services has also advanced multiple measures to regulate or restrict abortion access, some with the professed aim of protecting health care providers' religious freedom, during his tenure. The march has enjoyed support from multiple Republican administrations in the past and Mr Trump's has been no different.
