Two links placed on the US President’s social media posts have led to the drafting of new laws that could change our internet too.

, added to the law in 1996, be reviewed to clarify the immunity it provides to internet platforms by treating them as distributors of information and not publishers of it.

This law has been credited with helping to create the modern, open internet, but it was written years before social media, and currently allows sites like Facebook and Twitter to be absolved of responsibility for the content that appears on their sites. An online messaging board was held liable for defamatory comments made about the president of Jordan Belfort’s fraudulent brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont.

That dilemma is what section 230 was supposed to address, but the internet and the companies the law was brought in for have changed significantly since it was added 24 years ago, and although the law has huge influence over how social media functions, it predates social media as we know it today by several years.Social media sites could be subject to changed laws in the country where they’re based that would impact on the way we use them too.

Trump refuses to commit to ‘peaceful transfer of power’ if he losesDonald Trump has refused to commit to a peaceful transferral of power, should he lose the upcoming presidential election to Democratic nominee Joe Biden. realDonaldTrump He is leading his country to further disaster. realDonaldTrump That wasn't exactly the question. The election is invalid for many reasons. The first being the USA is under a state of emergency, which has destroyed the economy, and the 'mail in ballots' are an improvisation. realDonaldTrump Honestly don’t know if there is a dumber person on twitter than Sam Ckench. I mean I’m trying to be polite because the alternative is deliberately misleading, deceptive and totally lacking in integrity.

'We’re going to have to see what happens': Trump opens door to violence if he losesTrump on Wednesday appeared to suggest that if states got “rid of” the unsolicited mailing of ballots there would be no concern about alleged fraud. He is as scary as hell. Democracy is not a given, it’s a work in progress. America is no longer held to the highest standard, it’s pitied. The US is screwed. There will be violence on a massive scale, and it is all down to Trump undermining the legitimacy of the election, dividing the country, and giving support to violent extremists. And if he wins there will be violence from the left I’m sure....or mostly peaceful riots as it will be reported.
