The Trump administration will ban WeChat and video-sharing app TikTok from US app stores starting on Sunday night over concerns they pose a national security threat.

The Trump administration will ban WeChat and video-sharing app TikTok from US app stores starting on Sunday night, a move that will block Americans from downloading the Chinese-owned platforms over concerns they pose a national security threat.

"We disagree with the decision from the Commerce Department, and are disappointed that it stands to block new app downloads from Sunday and ban use of the TikTok app in the US from November 12," the company said in a statement. "We will continue to challenge the unjust executive order, which was enacted without due process and threatens to deprive the American people and small businesses across the US of a significant platform for both a voice and livelihoods.

The Trump administration has ramped up efforts to purge "untrusted" Chinese apps from US digital networks amid escalating tensions with Beijing on a range of issues from trade and human rights to the battle for tech supremacy.

Dragging the world back.....

China bashing... they are crazy

Another brilliant move by Trump.

We should ban Facebook and Twitter in Australia for the same reason.

More like an ego security threat

We need a strong leader in Australia. We need to ban ALL Chinese based and affiliated Tech companies/apps.

Australia should too.

When Australia?

This is the BEST MOVE for national security Senator_Patrick PeterDutton_MP SenPaterson australia should follow suit. ALL CCP tech companies to be shut down:

This is nonsense. He is banning it because he doesn’t like foreign competition. Didn’t Facebook sell user information a few years back?

Finally, a safe space from Americans on the internet

America is protecting its citizens from subversive communist tactics. Australia, after having disarmed its citizens, now, arrests its citizens for posting things on Facebook that are considered freedom of speech in America.

You have done the right thing, Mr. President. The company used American programming innovations in the silicone valley to create programs that were employed to do other likely detrimental things, to America within China. Trump CNN Corona

The joke of the century. Same as Trump.

Hmm who to trust, a highly educated doctor or someone who thinks groping women is okay? Such a hard decision Trump also said that the coronavirus would disappear thanks to “herd mentality “. So basically, Trump has no idea what he’s talking about and even reporting his nonsense is questionable at this stage. What for? Hoax pandemic. Death rate so low as to not even bother with Vaxx which will likely have more deaths from the actual vaxx.
