US ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland has told the House impeachment inquiry he followed President Donald Trump's orders on Ukraine.

"We did not want to work with Mr Giuliani. Simply put, we played the hand we were dealt. We all understood that if we refused to work with Mr Giuliani, we would lose an important opportunity to cement relations between the United States and Ukraine. So we followed the president's orders," Sondland said.

The other involved a debunked conspiracy theory embraced by some Trump allies that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the 2016 US election. Democrats have accused Trump of using the frozen aid and Zelenskiy's desire for an Oval Office meeting as leverage to pressure a vulnerable US ally to dig up dirt on political adversaries. Trump is seeking re-election next year."I think we know now ...

Sondland was one of three Trump allies who largely took over US-Ukraine policy in May, with Giuliani also playing a key role despite holding no official government position. Career US diplomats have portrayed Sondland in their testimony as a central figure in what became a shadow and"irregular" Ukraine policy operation, undercutting official channels and pressing Kiev to investigate the Bidens.

'Zero chance' Trump will appear in person at his impeachment inquiry | Sky News AustraliaSky News US contributor Cameron Stewart says there is “zero chance” Donald Trump will appear in person at his impeachment inquiry. \n\nThe US president indicated on Monday he could be open to testifying at his own impeachment hearing. \n\nDemocrats have not officially called on the president as a witness, but House speaker Nancy Pelosi has welcomed the idea. \n\nMr Stewart told Sky News “if you’re going to see Donald Trump giving testimony to the impeachment inquiry, it will only be in written form because it would be such a potential perjury trap for him to go in front of the committee and be cross examined under oath'. \n\nImage: AP\n Zero shock in that, his team know he is not competent enough to be able to control himself, and any questioning would not only expose his lies but also his incoherency and inability to understand even the most basic principles Face is awfully orange. Photoshopped? I really think that they are puppets and Trump is the puppeteer, they seem to be dancing to his tune and Schiff is trying to be paddywack the policeman, when all he really is , is the clown.
