US president Donald Trump has confirmed Osama Bin Laden’s son Hamza has been killed, but will not identify where or when the fatal strike occurred. A statement from the White House said: "Hamza bin Ladin, the high-ranking al-Qa'ida member and son of Usama bin Ladin, was killed in a United States counter-terrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region.
“The loss of Hamza bin Ladin not only deprives al-Qa'ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father but undermines important operational activities of the group." In February the US State Department had put a bounty of one million on the high ranking al-Qaeda member, which is usually the first step towards government-mandated counterterrorism drone strikes.
