Ethel “Rosie” McLean’s disappearance sparked a large community search effort after she went missing on June 10, when her family turned to social media to plead for witnesses to come forward with any information.“Mum has been found this afternoon, unfortunately not in time,” her daughter wrote on a Facebook group set up to help find Ms McLean

Ms McLean went missing with her Maltese Shih Tzu, named Bindi, earlier this month. Police said her dog was found alive and well nearby. “Bindi stayed with mum until they were found [and] we take some comfort in that knowledge,” Ms McLean’s daughter said.“We are truly grateful that you all cared for our mum [and] Bindi.Ms McLean was last seen leaving Timboon, in the state’s south-west, on June 10.Her worried family paid for a plane to search for Ms McLean from the air and their Facebook group swelled with 6000 members keen to help in the search.

Police were called to a property on Chatsworth-Wickcliffe Road in Wickcliffe, 200 kilometres west of Melbourne, on Monday.
