Trucks, cars, buses and bikes; Tasmanian road users are diverse, but they all want the same thing … safer, more-efficient ways to get about.

"It's only two and three lanes, they've actually taken a lot of the overtaking lanes out and a kilometre, to us, is a lot.

She said the CBD and suburbs like Invermay, Kings Meadows and Riverside were particularly bad between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. "Next state government will either create a sustainable, efficient modern city or a badly planned, congested mess."When it comes to public transport, there's room for improvement according to social scientist and community planner Lisa Stafford.

Ms Stafford moved from Queensland to Primrose Sands, about 50 kilometres east of Hobart, five months ago and is undertaking inclusive communities research for the Social Action Research Centre in Tasmania."You're not going to have people switching to public transport if there's disconnection, if there's a fragmented service, it's not available, it's inconsistent and unaffordable, so we need to close those gaps," she said.

Hobart's Richard Witbreuk has two prosthetics and would like to catch the bus to work, but finds it difficult to get to the bus stop, which is downhill."There's no bus priority lanes, so therefore you get stuck in traffic congestion and I find it obviously adds to congestion because if it's not attractive to use people are just going to use their cars," he said.

The US postal service has been using driverless trucks on intercity runs for years now. As autonomous cars trucks & aircraft enter the market many of these issues will melt away. Trucks can be programmed to start travelling at times of less traffic & on less direct routes.

Here’s a traffic fix... get all the crazies & bogans off the road... Photo is of a absolute maniac who was road raging me on the M1 Saturday morning. There was high volume traffic flow... with 1000 other cars in lane all moving at the speed limit... But he wanted to go faster😡

The biggest danger to all road users are gig drivers. They have zero care for road rules & are a constant danger to others.

Tasmanian election: Peter Gutwein claims victory for Liberals, but unclear if party will govern in majorityLabor leader Rebecca White said the Tasmanian election results reflect the trend of Australian voters favouring incumbent governments for their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Well while still sitting at a minority Govt until Clark is finished counting - I do hope they continue to keep Covid-19 out because, if we’ve learnt anything this election, the health system in Tasmania won’t cope with an outbreak. I’d hate to be growing old in Tasmania 😢
