Sydney Airport attributed the delays to a lack of staff, saying a significant amount of rostered security employees took sick leave on Monday.

"Sydney Airport’s security queue snaking its way through the domestic terminal and out the door. I arrived at the airport an hour-and-a-half before my flight this morning and spent over an hour in the security queue.
