An independent report commissioned by ERA suggests that the company could pay for the rehabilitation of one mine site by establishing another.

So when an independent report commissioned by ERA was released this week Mirrar traditional owners were shocked by the assumption that mining could be considered at Jabiluka. In the late 1990s there were protests around Australia against the development of a uranium mine at Jabiluka.ERA ran the Ranger uranium mine, south of the Jabiluka lease, for more than 40 years before shutting down operations in January 2021.cost more than $2 billionIn an effort to raise funds for the clean-up, ERA commissioned accounting firm Grant Thompson to estimate the value of the company's share price.

"If the traditional owners approve the development of the Jabiluka mine, it will provide long-term economic benefits to the Mirarr people which could be used to help support their cultural activities and assist in passing their rich and long history to future generations and in sharing it with visitors to the area," the report said.'Typical' analysis ignores 'realities'

"And we've got these [people] from Sydney … applying a typical mining analysis, precluding the political, economic and environmental realities of the situation.

I wish we use this uranium for energy only and not selling purpose. This mineral need to use with respect.

It's a history that long with the Uranium. They respect the history that past for generations. No every Aboriginal people was nomads. But most do and it's because of the weather change, the flats in some regions and good food in others places. They no abuse the mother earth.

Is Uranium used for any other reason than for nuclear purposes? If used for nuclear purposes, does this mean energy or weaponry? If used for energy, what is the reason opposed to solar/wind/hydro?

Appalled why? Because no money in it for them.

The grift continues.

Non-Traditional Owners have no respect for Australia just like the foreign British owners from 1788 to 1901!

Filthy lucre seems to satisfy them.

Mustn't upset the Ooga Booga spirits.

Yet they were willing to accept the royalty payments to allow the mine to operate.

Unfortunately as we move away from fossil fuels, new mines to support electrification of the grid and renewables is required. This includes uranium.
