A moment of historic theatre as cameras turned on for the first public hearings in the impeachment inquiry into US President realDonaldTrump.

A moment of historic theatre as the cameras switched on for the first public hearings in the impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump. America's top diplomat in Ukraine said the president cares more about a political investigation than his country's relationship with Ukraine. William Taylor testified on Capitol Hill in the first public hearing as part of the impeachment.

Mr Taylor's opening statement contained new information he said he learned five days ago, claiming a member of his staff heard President Trump ask a top ranking diplomat about "the investigations" into his potential political rival Joe Biden, and his son Hunter. Ambassador Taylor also raised concerns about Donald Trump's approach to Ukraine policy-making.

Donald Trump ignores impeachment inquiry to host Turkey's Recep Tayyip ErdoganUS President Donald Trump on Wednesday ignored the first public hearings into the impeachment inquiry, where a key witness said Mr Trump told a diplomat he 'cared more' about Ukraine investigating his Democratic rival than about the country itself. So no actual evidence of any quid pro quo or anything else remotely illegal, of course. Just sooking from these hired help functionaries. Newsflash: they don't get to set foreign policy. The president does. If they don;t like it they can resign, no-one will care if they do. You can’t impeach a President based upon someone’s opinion

'Weird, confusing, alarming': Public impeachment hearings begin with damning testimonyTwo senior US diplomats have testified about their alarm and astonishment at the Trump administration's efforts to pressure Ukraine to launch an investigation into Donald Trump's potential 2020 rival Joe Biden. And all hearsay - they weren’t even on the call!!!! - what a joke - it was their” understanding “ via multiple people having conversations- regular folk see through this farce - bottom line bureaucrats in DC hate Trump Oh yes more opinions from people with no direct evidence. Their alarm and astonishment means nothing. This whole impeachment circus has exposed how desperate Democrats have become.
