Australia’s chief medical officer says he is in agreement with the United Nations, which warned there is no scientific basis for awarding an “immunity passport” to people who have recovered from COVID-19. The UN health agency overnight warned there isn’t enough data to prove those who have recovered from the novel coronavirus have life-long immunity to the disease.
Chile is considering issuing workers with an immunity certificate proving they have recovered from the virus, which would permit them to work outside their home. Germany and Italy have reportedly also been considering using immunity passports. Chief Medical Officer Professor Brendan Murphy said it is “too early” to issue documentation clearing people of the disease.
