Australia have produced a near-perfect first half to lead India 4-0 in their group A hockey clash. After a misfiring opening to the tournament, which ended in 5-3 win over Japan, the Kookaburras have been at their best against India.
Australia’s Flynn Ogilvie made a crucial stick save on the line to deny India’s Rupinder Pal Singh late in the first term. They then scored a second via Jeremy Hayward, who sent a bullet of a shot past the Indian keeper. Ogilvie scored the third on a devastating counter-attack from the Australians and the finish was just as clinical. Josh Beltz also got his first Olympic goal to leave India shellshocked.
A clock malfunction resulted in a seven-minute delay and that helped neither side. Dallas Mavericks guard Josh Green came on for Australia for his Olympic debut and he gave the side a huge boost defensively. The South Americans, who had stumbled to a shock 2-0 defeat to Australia in their opening match, took all three points with a 1-0 win against the Egyptians. The result takes Argentina, at least temporarily, to the top of the table alongside Australia, who play Spain later tonight. The only goal of the game came from centre-back Facundo Medina, whose header from a corner hit the post early in the second half only for the ball to rebound to him, allowing the defender to sweep home from close range.

Olympics LIVE: Dodgy finish robs Aussie starEmma McKeon powered to an Australian record - yet still got dudded in her first swim at the Olympics. Looking at the video, Emma glided in. The photo doing the rounds, you can't tell if Emma is touching the wall, or is 1mm from the wall. Zhang's final stroke could easily have hit the wall at the same time as Emma Ok I’ll bite. What on earth does dudded mean? I’ve been all over the world (however, not to Australia), and have never heard this phrase. She got dudded?
