Locals in the town of Estepona on the Costa del Sol reported getting hurt as they rode down the narrow steel chute.

The slide, which was specifically designed to save those using it a 10-minute walk, was opened to the public on Thursday, then closed the following day. Locals posted to social media scrapes and bruises they received while sliding down the Estepona chute. Videos posted on social media showed people hurtling down the slide at an excessive speed, flying off the end.

“I threw myself and I hurt everywhere, I flew two metres and the cops started to laugh,” one woman posted on Twitter.By the weekend, the top of the slide had signs warning people not to use it and emergency tape coiled around the entire length of it, blocking people from using it.
