Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said the All-Australian may join Trent Cotchin, Kane Lambert and Dion Prestia on the sidelines, forcing the club to reach deep into their midfield resources to play the Giants in round nine.
“They have got better again, we have got to catch them. They are probably the best side we have played all year,” Hardwick said. “We have got to hang tough, but that is what we do, we have got some work to do to catch the very best sides in the competition this year because that ain’t us,” Hardwick said.Geelong coach Chris Scott said he had no doubt Richmond would bounce back but the win would build the confidence of the Cats’ emerging talent.“Against them, I’m not so sure [it will matter],” Scott said. “They tend to bounce back pretty hard, so we’re not falling in love with ourselves.
“One thing you know is they come back. I’m not sure how much this game will mean in the context of the longer term, but I think it gives our guys some confidence that they can more than compete against the best.”
